The Top Ten Best TIE Fighter Variants

There are few vehicles from the Star Wars universe that are more iconic than the TIE Fighter. Sure, the Millennium Falcon may get the most love, and Rebel ships like the X-Wing are up there in popularity too, but nothing else really is really more identifiable more than those sleek, compact little bastards that swarmed our heroes in countless space battles from the original Star Wars Trilogy…

Phantom Troublemaker Goes to Hollywood (sort of): The Director’s Cut

I originally posted this earlier last year, right around the time it happened. We were specifically told not to post anything online about the experience. I kept everything nice and vague and posted it here. Now, at last, the truth can be told in its entirety. I was an extra in Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2. I don’t even know if I’ll be in the final cut or not, but here’s what went down…

Pac-Man Merchandising Mania!

Since the relaunch of this site involves somewhat of a Pac-Man motif, I thought it only fitting that the first new article since the relaunch involve everyone’s favorite pixellated dot-muncher himself. Now, just about everyone in the world is familiar enough with Pac-Man, but those who weren’t around between 1980 and 1984 don’t understand just exactly how ubiquitous this cheese-wedge-looking motherchomper was during his formative years…

A Closer Look at Transformers

So…here’s a look at the origins of the movie Transformers and some of my thoughts on them.

Optimus Prime – In my opinion the best adaptation from toy/comic/cartoon to movie out of all of the Transformers represented. Optimus has all of the classic elements while still being modern. Getting Peter Cullen to do the voice was a great plus.
Bumblebee – A lot of fans have issues with Bumblebee being a Camaro instead of a VW Bug, which I can understand…if you are gay.
Jazz – Only issue here is …

Heart of Dorkness: Star Wars Celebration IV, Day 1

So I am an un-abashed, un-repentant, un-something else, Star Wars geek. Everyone I know knows this. Everyone I’ve ever met probably knows this. It is something that is ingrained in the core of me, something that makes me me. And as much as that fact, at times, makes my wife cry like a widow, I have been this way my entire life…

Six Pack (1982)

I’ve learned a lot from Kenny Rogers. Thanks to him, I known when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away, and I even know when to run. I learned that sometimes you have to fight to be a man. And I even learned that love will turn you around. Turn. You. Around…

Doom (2005)

Movies based on video games are notorious for being awful. I believe Noel even wrote an article detailing the badness, but like a fool I gave Doom a chance anyway. I knew I wasn’t about to see a good movie by any means, but I at least expected it to be entertaining…

Enter…Zombie King (2003)

While seeking out movies to review for the 2005 Zombie Extravaganza here at MCFTR, I ran across a little Canadian flick called Enter…Zombie King. After reading the description, it was a no-brainer that this was the first on my list of films to see for this particular project…

No Holds Barred (1989)

Every now and again, the world of cinema delivers to us an icon. This icon exemplifies the finest that Hollywood has to offer: rugged good looks, unmistakable charm, and universal appeal…

Beyond the Mat (1999)

I’ve made it no secret here that I’m a huge pro wrestling fan. The denial is over, I’ve been “outed”. Since I began watching almost twenty years ago, there’s barely been a week that I missed my fix of the grappling game. I’ve stuck around during the high points and the low points, pretending I wasn’t interested in the days when it wasn’t “cool” to watch it…

Ready to Rumble (2000)

I see some bad movies. I mean, we all do, but in my quest to find material to write about I see more than the average person’s share of really bad ones…

G.I.Joe: The Movie (1987)

Yes, I realize that elsewhere on this site, there’s a casting call for a non-existent G.I.Joe live-action movie starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood. But many years ago, there actually WAS a G.I.Joe movie…
