"Jessica Alba is so hot" sums up why this suck-ass excuse for a superhero movie made any money at all. People who never read the original comics with those endlessly entertaining over the top scripts and plots by Stan Lee and majestically drawn by Jack "King" Kirby, missed what made the FF so legendary in the first place. If those old FF comics had the reality show dialog and equally vapid, unlikable characters like this franchise it would not have lasted more than ten issues before going the way of Millie the Model and getting axed from the Marvel lineup for poor sales. Then again, those were the days before the Dumbing Down of America when even the silliest TV shows exhibited more respect for the viewers intelligence than the most dramatic fare these days. Chicklis as The Thing was the only good casting choice and he was the only Thing that kept my eyes awake. And no, Alba isn't even that "hot". Nice bod but she looks like a Botox lawsuit.

Oh wowwww, some people are way too sensitive. I wish I had read these comments sooner!

I don't recall anyone calling anybody else's children/family members 'retarded' beyond own their relatives doing so. My mother taught me that it's not what people call you that matters, it's what you answer to. If your kid/relative isn't retarded, then no one is talking to you or about them.

Dadtovunerablekids, you called your own kids retarded because I am pretty certain that no one responsible for creating this website has ever even met your kids, and so the term is useless unless you give life to it in your own mind. I'm sure if the site's creators would have met your children, they wouldn't have even for one minute made the correlation between fortheretarded.com and your kids. They didn't have a clue about your children's existence let alone their extra chromosomes, which means you alone had that knowledge. Therefore you are the one who judged your own kids as being retarded, and now you're feigning offense because of the name of this site? YOU made that correlation all by yourself. Shame on you.

Ditto for Mike and Michael N. because you people clearly don't get it. Word to the wise--or the totally clueless in this instance--if it doesn't apply to you, if YOU don't believe that your kids are retarded, then don't respond.

to start with I saw this movie shortly after it's release when it was premiered on Showtime in 1980 when I was 15 and I even though still somewhat in my adolescence got the idea of it bring a bit on the edge of potty humor and identified the parody aspect of the film of a teen girl being in love with the pop idol of the time and the fact they chose Joey Ramone as the object of her affection. The humor was a tad bit dry to an extent but the music was cool the actors some well known others not but still the female lead was adequate for a young man going through puberty and story line well suited for someone who didn't feel like he fit in the school he was attending at the time so the rebellious nature was also adequate for relief of teenage frustration somewhat depicted in the 60's british band The Who's early lyrics a decade before RNRHS was thought of. I can say if it weren't for this film and the state of mind I was in at the time and the comedy mixed with a good punk era soundtrack I might have became a actual pyromaniac or more deviant thug than I ended up in my early 20's. To say this was a horrible film only goes to show the person who wrote this review is no respecter of good B Movie low budget high quality entertainment and should leave his expertise to something more suitable. Perhaps he would rather have had The Sound Of Music or Carousel as a favorite or more suitable musical as the staple of the youth movement. I thank the ones who brought us Rock Horror' Grease and Rock N Roll High School because it showed me there was more to life than the boring 50's and 60's clean cut musicals I was subjected to as a small child. These films helped me to emerge from the false reality into a more down to earth realistic lifestyle that was more suitable for my ideals and emotional dysfunction. Long Live Rock N Roll High School and Long Live The Ramones.

I think that you have to accept that affliction is part of human life. Unless we die very affliction will effect all of us. That's why it is such an important topic in Hollywood films. It is the truth of the human condition. It is just more apparent in intellectually disabled people, or oppressed people like homosexuals who are victims of the criminally-insane self-importance of heterosexuals.

A good example of "Long titles can be okay, as long as they’re fun to pronounce" is "The Man With the Smallest Penis in the World and the Electron Microscope Technician That Loved Him" it was a real film actually.
